I had a wonderful time with this family and their sweet little girl. We explored the park and tried to stay cool on a hot summer day! She loves reading The Hungry Caterpillar so we took a break to read for a bit part way through the shoot. It was so fun to wok with these three!
This is one of those sessions that I love more and more each time I come back to it <3 I met this family of three on a warm August day and sweet Izzy could not have asked for more loving parents. They just adored her... and so did I :) She was so quiet and easy going... and so, SO tiny. I love the classic look of these images and how, even many months later, I feel like this was yesterday when looking back at the images <3
It has been awhile since I've blogged. I had to take a break to keep up with my fall sessions, but now I want to get back to sharing some of my favorite sessions from 2016. I did this lifestyle session at the end of last summer. Mom wanted the session to have a newborn feel to it even though their baby as about three months old. I was a little nervous about how it would go because I had not done this before, but it turned out to be one of my favorite sessions. Three months is such a great age. I feel like it's around this time that their personalities really start to peek through... and oh the smiles! I love them :)
I was so excited to meet Evelyn at her newborn session. It didn't seem all that long ago that I was taking maternity pictures of her beautiful mama. I loved how much everyone in the family adored this sweet girl. We had a relaxed, easy-going session and just enjoyed newborn life. I'm excited to be in the process of catching up on this blog and sharing more from this session with you :)
I loved doing a few Mommy and Me sessions this spring so that moms could get in the picture. It's easy to take pictures of your kids, but sometimes life is so busy that you have to make a point to get in the photos with your kids. We had a fun time at this quick morning session and lucked out with some beautiful trees.
I love getting to see clients grow up. I worked with Penny and her family last fall and I was so excited to see them again for Penny's one year session. She has gown up into such a big girl and was happy as can be at our early morning session. She loved to give high fives, get cuddles from mom and dad, and walk ALL over the place. She was a brave little explorer. I loved walking around with these three and hearing about their big move. Penny's mom is a veterinarian and recently got a job up north. I have no doubt that she is the sweetest most caring one around :) I will miss these guys!
It has been awhile since I've blogged but I've been excited to share this session since April! This session turned out to be one of my most favorite newborn sessions to date. I always talk/email with my clients a good bit before the session to determine what their goals are for the session. For this one, mom wanted to focus on alone shots of Henryk, very natural sibling interactions, and babywearing. We did the entire session on one bed, in one room. He nursed, we changed diapers, we played UNO, we talked about birth and babywearing. I adored the simplicity and how that allowed the focus of the images to be the newness of Henryk and the raw emotions of bringing a new baby into the family. I absolutely loved working with this family and it was fun to pull up these images again... it's really hard to believe how small he was :)
The second half of my mini sessions did not disappoint. I had so much fun capturing natural interactions and hearing all the giggles while the kids raced through the trees. The cutest little Santa even made an appearance as the sun set behind the trees. It was a such great day! Thank you to everyone who came out for my first ever mini sessions!!
This family has been so patient waiting for their images! I was so close to finishing them up and then we had "fall back" and well... we all know how that goes with kids. P was such a sweetheart and so easygoing during our evening session. She has the most sparkly eyes and just adored her mom and dad. We captured a great variety of images and P was so tuckered out by the end, she fell asleep in her mama's arms. It doesn't get any better than that!
I love, love, loved working with this sweet family! We had a really relaxed session while chatting about all things motherhood and racing cars. It was a pretty awesome playdate!
I've known Leslie for a long time and was so excited when she touched base about taking photos of her family. I loved exploring Longwood Gardens with her family and meeting her two adorable kids!
I loved meeting this family and working with little baby J. He may have been the tiniest baby I've ever seen! His parents were head over heels in love with their new addition and I'm pretty sure their sweet dog was, too!
I love when I have the opportunity to do a true lifestyle session with very few posed images! I had a great time with the D family last month. They had two adorable kids and had a great time just being together as a family!
I know many of you may be wondering, what exactly is a storytelling session? And, what would the images look like? Well, each session will be different, but I wanted to share a lot of images from a recent session so you'd have a better idea of the type of images you'd see in a gallery. I had SO much fun with the B family while they baked muffins with their mom and grandparents. At one point, they realized they were out of apple juice, so mom imporvised and that was probably everyone's favorite part. "Real life" moments are definitely my favorite ones to capture and share!
I fell in love with photography soon after my first daughter was born. I spent hours upon hours reading about photography during late night nursing sessions and spent my days practicing what I learned so I could get the perfect portrait of my daughter. It wasn’t long before I realized that my favorite images were the ones captured between the posed portraits. I love looking back at the pictures of my daughter’s tiny hands stacking her alphabet blocks or holding our favorite books. I love seeing her sweet eyes peeking through the holes in the laundry basket that I’ve had since college. And I love reminiscing when I see her tiny feet from the day she crawled into her toddler bed for the first time. For me, photographs mean so much more when there is context and memories associated with them. I’ve always loved looking back at the pictures my parents took of us when we were growing up. I especially love all of the details: the linoleum kitchen floors we roller skated on, the pink living room couch we sat on while we waited for the bus on rainy days, the wooden rolling pin that my mom has always used to make sugar cookies.
As much as we take photographs for our own personal memories, we also take them for our children to look back at years from now. Their favorite images will be the ones that stir up memories of their childhood: ordinary moments from everyday life. For me, these ordinary, often simple moments are the ones that make life extraordinary.
I want to capture these moments for you and your family so you can share them for generations to come. In my Storytelling Sessions, I’ll capture a glimpse of your favorite family activities: baking cookies, playing dress-up, planting flowers, getting ice cream, bedtime stories, bath time, playing at the park, a game of catch, potty training, folding laundry for the baby-to-be, riding bikes, eating finger food for the first time… you name it! I've had so much fun throughout the last year swapping photography sessions with my friend, Autumn, and her family. I am truely honored each time I have the opportunity to photograph them again. I'll admit, I get really nervous before working with other photographers; I just want the session to be perfect for them. This lifestyle session was shot in their beautiful bedroom and I had a lot of fun playing with a variety of lighting situations. It was nice and laid back and we were able to chat through our (Sophie was there for this session, too!) various nursing breaks. Ivy is such a loving big sister to Siah and I can't wait to watch their relationship grow. Congrats, Autumn and Ray!!
I was so excited to wrok with this family again. I did Kate's maternity photos in the fall and it was so fun to see them again and to meet their new baby girl! Baby E was welcomed into such a loving family and has a big brother who totally adores her. I love capturing memories for families in their own home and am truely honored when they invite me in for a few hours of their day. Congrats again, B family!
I met up with the F family on a freezing cold day in February. Luckily, we picked an indoor location for D's two year old photos! D had so much fun exploring the exhibits at the Please Touch Museum and taking some pictures along the way. I had a lot of fun playing with various lighting situations and love the variety of images we were able to capture. Happy 2nd birthday, D!
It seems like ages ago that I met up with the B family to take some maternity photos - a lot has changed for both of us since then! We had been having some really cold weather, but we lucked out with a relatively warm, winter morning. I was excited that there was still some snow on the ground! Little N was definitely excited to be a big brother, but he was even more excited to explore the really neat grounds of the Mansion House. He helped us find some really creative spots along the way. I loved capturing this soon-to-be family of four!
Around the holidays last year, I met up with the M family on an chilly afternoon. We braved the Longwood Gardens crowds to get some holiday photos and I'm so happy with how they turned out! Little A was such a good sport and loved checking out all the holiday displays. You can see where he gets his amazing smile from! We had such a fun time!
